How to install s6-portable-utils
Like any other piece of software (and information generally),
s6-portable-utils comes with NO WARRANTY.
s6-portable-utils is available under the terms of the
ISC license,
see the included package/COPYING file.
Requirements
System
Build-time
- A standard C development environment
- The skalibs package, version 1.1.1 or higher
Run-time
Depending on the way you compile and link s6-portable-utils:
- No dependencies (static executables)
- or a standard C run-time environment (dynamic executables with flag-allstatic)
- or a standard C run-time environment
and the skalibs package, version 1.1.1 or higher
(dynamic executables without flag-allstatic)
Installation
s6-portable-utils follows the
slashpackage convention.
- Create a /package directory:
mkdir -p /package
chmod 1755 /package
cd /package
- Download the latest version of s6-portable-utils,
s6-portable-utils-0.17.tar.gz,
into /package.
- Unpack the s6-portable-utils package:
tar -zxpvf s6-portable-utils-0.17.tar.gz
# if you do not have GNU tar, check with your gunzip and tar manual pages.
rm s6-portable-utils-0.17.tar.gz
cd admin/s6-portable-utils-0.17
- Configure the package by editing the files in conf-compile/
following these
instructions. s6-portable-utils currently does not support any other
flags than flag-allstatic.
- Compile and set up s6-portable-utils:
make
sudo make install
- To save disk space:
make clean
