HotApplet 0.2

Description
-----------

HotApplet shows the motherboard sensors values such as CPU Temperature, system temperature, fan rpm's, etc. It's written for Gnome 2 and depends on the lm_sensors package.

Requirements
------------

To compile the applet you will need to have installed the lm_sensors and lm_sensors-devel packages that came with your distribution, as well as Gnome2 and Gnome2 development libraries.

If you have a custom kernel you need to make sure that you have the lm_sensors kernel module installed. If you are using the kernel that came with any recent linux distribution then you don't need to worry.

You can download the kernel module from:
    http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/

Sensors currently supported
---------------------------

At the moment, HotApplet shows the following information:

Three temperatures (with Hysteresis and Limit values) for these sensors:
    *) via686a
    *) w83781d
    *) w83782d
    *) w83783s
    *) w83627hf
    *) w83697hf
    *) as99127f

Configuring your sensors
------------------------

Before the applet will show any useful information you need to have lm_sensors configured and working.
The easiest way to test if it is working is to open up a console and run 'sensors'. If a list of temperatures is printed then you have a working lm_sensors setup, otherwise you need to do the following:

As root run '/usr/sbin/sensors-detect' , it's an interactive shell script.
Follow the instructions and add the lines it gives you to /etc/rc.d/rc.local and /etc/modules.conf as instructed by the script.

Then reboot and try to run 'sensors' again. If it doesn't work try the script again.

Adding the Applet to your Panel
-------------------------------

Once you have installed the applet (into the same PREFIX as gnome2) and have logged out and back
in again, there will be a new item in the context menu for the panel, under 'Add to Panel->Utilities'.

Problems & Feedbacks
--------------------

If the applet shows a warning icon and it says that your sensors are not supported, please send us your 'sensor' program output. We'll try to fix it for the next release.

If you have the applet correctly working, please, send a feedback with problems you have found, new ideas, opinnions, etc.

Thanks and enjoy it.
